Lama Nyima Dorje Sherpa

Resident Lama

Lama Nyima Dorje Sherpa received elementary education as a novice monk at Shree Mangal Dvip Boarding School from 1990 to 1997 in Nepal.  He spent 2 years learning the Buddhist root texts and ritual practice prior to attending the Higher Buddhist Philosophy & Science Vajra Vidya Institute in Varanasi, India, in 1999.  He successfully completed the Shedra Course in 2005.

​In 2010, he entered the traditional 4-year retreat at Nyeshang Katay Thrangu Retreat Centre in Nepal and was bestowed with the title “Lama” upon completion of the retreat.  In 2016, he was appointed as the Chief Discipline Master at the Thrangu Tashi Choling Monastery in Nepal by the Venerable Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche and has remained in this position since then.
