As prophesied by the historical Buddha Shakyamuni and the great tantric master Guru Padmasambhava, since the first Dusum Khyenpa (1110-1193), the Kar-mapas have incarnated in the form of manifestation body for sixteen times. While Karmapa means the embodiment of all the activities of the Buddhas, His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa Ogyen Trinley Dorje was officially confirmed and recognized by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama and is the head of the 900 year-old Karma Kagyu Lineage.
